The Legion of Super Heroes: Five Years Later

 Hey there Legion fans.  If you are here, I'm going to guess that you are a fan of the Legion of Super Heroes.  This blog is going to be dedicated to documenting the 5 Year Later era of the Legion.  Cover dated November 1989, Volume 4 of the Legion of Super Heroes started.

Page 1 of The Legion of Super Heroes V4 #1

Written by Keith Giffen with Tom & Mary Bierbaum (this team is commonly known as TMK) along with others contributing to the story, they blasted the Legion 5 years into the future.  The previous volume had ended in August 1989 with the culmination of The Magic Wars.



I am planning on going through every issue, with probably multiple posts per issue to document (or what is commonly known as annotating) this run.  Including the Legionnaires book that spawned from the story TMK were telling.  I will also be putting outside information from things such as interviews, the LSH Postcard set, the wonderful 2995 Legion Of Super Heroes Sourcebook from Mayfair Games which was written by Tom & Mary Bierbaum during the course of their run and gives a ton of background information.

I'll also be touching on Tom Bierbaums own blog where he gives his recollections of the issues and some of the situations that led to the choices made therein.


Maybe, if I am really lucky, I can get some new information from some of the creators of these books.

This Volume, and more specifically the adult Legion team (as this Volume also saw the beginning of the rebooted Legion of Super Heroes, starting them over again at their formation), is beloved by some, hated by others...and let's not forget a discussion or two about Keith Giffens' use of the 9 panel grid.
